Background

Cloud Computing has long been touted as a way to lower the cost and complexity of computing by providing applications that run on the Internet instead of on servers or computers in an office environment. More recently, the U.S. Federal Government announced an “application store” through which federal departments could use cloud or Internet-based solutions for office and business productivity purposes. This trend has paved the way for companies to provide effective and efficient solutions for the government, provided they can demonstrate that the appropriate security controls and business rules are in place to protect our nation’s sensitive information.

NC4 Homeland Security Cloud™

The NC4 Homeland Security Cloud™ solution includes unmatched applications for:

  • Situational Awareness
  • Emergency Management
  • Law Enforcement
  • Secure Communication and Collaboration

NC4’s HSC currently supports more than 2,500 homeland security communities with a total of more than 80,000 users. With a primary focus on security, NC4’s solution meets or exceeds federal standards for handling sensitive information such as Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), For Official Use Only (FOUO) and Law Enforcement Sensitive (LES) data.

HSC Infrastructure – Security

The NC4 Homeland Security Cloud is a unique offering in the cloud computing space with advanced security features. These features encompass best practices for cyber security, physical security and personnel security controls.

HSC Universal Console™ Mapping Technology

Universal Console™ (UC) is a foundation technology that enables users of NC4's Homeland Security Cloud™ universal GIS access, giving users the ability to easily combine disparate geo-spatial information from multiple cloud-based sources. For example, a community of users could all view a common operational picture which includes incident and resource management information (from NC4's E Team Application), all-hazards, global incident information (from NC4's Situational Awareness solution), animated weather radar and hurricane tracks (NOAA), active fire maps (NASA/MODIS) and live USGS earthquake feeds all combined on a dynamic map display.
